Are you a little, or even a lot concerned with your child's speech and language but really can't juggle regular weekly or bi-weekly visits?  Consultation is a perfect solution for working on speech and language skills.  Together, we can identify what you most want to work on and then build a goal ... what would you like your child to be doing 1 month, 3 months or 6 months from now?  Unlike weekly or bi-weekly visits, a consultation is typically once per month and no less than once every 3 months for as long as you need.  A customizable plan to fit your needs that still provides you with everything you need to work on your speech and language goal at home until the next visit.  Each visit will start with an update of how things have gone, a review of previous strategies and then, if appropriate, new targets or strategies added to keep you moving toward success.

Consultation

You know your child is having a hard time with talking, or has already been diagnosed with a delay, but you don't know what to do and you and your child are frustrated and need some guidance.  Regular, one-on-one visits are a perfect solution to work on individualized and targeted speech and language goals.  Together, we can identify what you most want to work on and then build a goal ... what would you like your child to be doing 1 month, 3 months or 6 months from now?  During regular visits you will be provided with everything you need to continue working on your speech and language goal at home until the next session.  Each visit will start with an update of how things have gone, a review of previous strategies and then, if appropriate, new targets or strategies added to keep you moving toward success.  You choose the frequency of visits, the length of visits and the location of visits.  A customizable plan to fit your needs for when your child needs more intensive service.

Individulaized visits

Is your child older than 6 years and still struggling with speech sound errors despite years of speech therapy?  SPARK (Sound Practice & Remediation Kit) might be just right for you.  Developed by Dragonfly Therapy Services, SPARK is a customized home articulation sound practice program with an emphasis on ensuring YOU have what you need to be successful with speech practice at home!  This program relies heavily on the parent "being the therapist" and is limited to no more than 4 monthly visits outside of the initial appointment.  You are provided with a very detailed home work plan at the end of each session that will help guide you to where your child needs to be to move onto the next step of the articulation program.  At  completion, if your child hasn't already started to carryover to conversation, you will have the skills, strategies, materials and activities needed to continue at home, even after visits have ended.

Moving beyond persistent sound errors is a challenge, but SPARK can help!

You choose the SPARK that fits your child best:

SPARK  for persistent /k/ errors

SPARK for persistent /s/ errors

SPARKL for persistent /l/ errors

SPARK  for persistent /r/ errors

SPARK -TH  for persistent "th" errors

Coaching & Cheerleading

Wondering how to create opportunities to communicate in everyday routines to foster a great start for speech and language when competing with the pull of digital media?  Struggling with story time, mealtime or other daily routines?  Having a hard time breaking screen time or being consistent in routines?  Coaching & Cheerleading is a unique service option for families struggling with the everyday demands of being a parent while trying to ensure speech and language develop appropriately.  Let us model evidence based strategies designed to foster speech and language, positive play and routines.  We will coach you and support you as you try different strategies ... finding just the right ones that work for you.  We will cheer you on as you make changes in how you engage with your child.  Together let's embrace you AND your child's potential, the possibilities and the change!

Wondering if your child may benefit from educational programming in a preschool or ECS classroom?  Or do you just need help understanding all the service jargon?  "Finding your Way" is a new service option for families whose child may already have been assessed with a speech and language delay but are left asking "now what?"

Many agencies and private service providers will complete speech and language assessments and provide your child with a diagnosis but leave the way-finding up to you.  At Dragonfly Therapy Services, we can review the assessment completed by an outside agent and provide you with possible options but will not complete any written documentation in support of the diagnosis or funding.  Or, we can complete a comprehensive speech and language assessment for you and based on the results, discuss and explain all of your possible options, provide you with contacts and a completed speech and language assessment report written to the standard required by Alberta Education.

Some of the funding options typically accessed through Alberta Education that may be discussed include Program Unit Funding, Mild/moderate, Code 47 and Code 57 .  Additionally, other program options may include FSCD, Mental Health, Parents as Teachers and community programs to which Dragonfly Therapy Services acts a referral agent only.
